Picnic at Hanging Rock
Picnic at Hanging Rock is a 1967 book by Joan Lindsay. In 1975 an atmospheric film adaptation was released, directed by Australian director Peter Weir.Story
The story features the mysterious disappearance of several schoolgirls in 1900. The reason for their disappearance, whether by human or supernatural agency, is never discovered, but their disappearance has a profound effect upon everybody in their community. While the story is entirely fictional, Hanging Rock itself is a real geological feature just outside Melbourne.
