Pattern Recognition (novel)

This page discusses a novel. For the computer-science discipline, see Pattern recognition
Pattern Recognition is William Gibson's eighth novel. Unlike his previous science fiction work, Pattern Recognition is a work of mainstream fiction.

The novel is set in the contemporary, post-dotcom, post 9-11 world, mostly in London. Its heroine has a unique talent to feel the hipness of corporate logos and judges new ones for a living. She is drawn into the mystery surrounding snippets of film footage that are placed at random locations on the Internet for their growing base of admirers to find and puzzle over.
