Mycelium isvegetative part offungus consisting ofmassbranching threadlike hyphae that exists belowground or within another substrate. The familiar hat-like headstalkmushroomsin fact reproductive structuresascomycetesbasidiomycetes fungi, andnot classified as mycelium.
