In music of20th centurybeyond,word metallophonesometimes applied specifically tosingle rowmetal bars suspended overresonator boxtuned todiatonic scale. Such instrumentsoften usedschools,Carl Orff used themseveralhis pieces, including his pedagogical Schulwerk.
