Mesocyclonesconvection vortices formedpowerful thunderstorms, which generate many dangerous byproducts. Theymost commonly observedsupercell thunderstorms, butcan driveactivitylesser thunderstorms as well.

A mesocyclone generates many effects asresult ofmixingwarm updrafts,cold downdrafts. The main effecthail, whichalmost always present ifmesocyclone has formed. The hail generates powerful lightning bolts. Other effects ofmesocyclone include powerful downdrafts, which can take down an aircraft, strong wind shear,torrential downpour.

The most severe side-effect ofmesocyclone occurs whendowndraft andflanking line ofmesocyclone collide. The first effects will be"mammatus", orbubbly cloud formation. Ifdowndraftstrong enough,flanking line will lowerproduce"wall cloud". The final result isformationfunnel cloudsfinally tornadoes.

Onwhole, mesocyclones aredangerous, but common phenomenon.
