Jerzy Neyman

Jerzy Neyman (April 16, 1894 - August 5, 1981) was a statistician. He was born in Bendery, Moldavia into the Polish-speaking family of Czeslaw Neyman, a lawyer, and Kazimiera Lutoslawska. He graduated from Kharkov University in 1917.

His best-known work is his collaboration with Egon Pearson on the theory of hypothesis testing and the Neyman-Pearson lemma.

He died in Oakland, California.
