Immanence

Immanence is the property of existing only within certain boundaries, e.g. the world, or the human mind.

This word has the sense of promise to be fulfilled. Thus, in Dennis Ritchie's forward to the Lions book on the Sixth edition of Unix, he refers to concepts which are immanent in the comments to the code.
