Grey area

A grey area isterm forborder in-between two or more things thatunclearly defined,border thatharddefine or even impossibledefine, ordefinition wheredistinction border tendsmove. Thereseveral flavorsgrey areas:

• A grey areadefinitions signifiesproblemsorting reality into clearly cut categories. Example: where isborder between eroticapornography?
• A grey arealawan area where no clear law or precedent exists, or wherelaw has not been applied inlong time thus makingunclear if itapplicable at all.
• A grey areaethics signifies an ethical dilemma, whereborder between rightwrongblurred. Example: is killing always abominable?

Grey areaswidely accepteddemocratic societieshaveclear connection tonotiontolerance, whereassocietiestotalitarianism, grey areastypically not accepted on any level.

Many people accept grey areas asnatural part ofhuman experience, whereas others may reactsuspicion andfeelingdefectness or uncompletenessany thought-system (or paradigm) accepting grey areas.
