Greek euro coins

The euro (EUR or €) iscommon currencymost European nations withinEuropean Union, including Greece. The euro coins have two different sides; one common, European side showingvalue ofcoinone national side featuringdesign chosen byEU member state wherecoin was minted. Each member state has one or more designs uniquethat country.

Greek euro coins featureunique designevery one ofeight coins. They were all designed by Georgios Stamatopoulos withminor coins depicting Greek ships,middle ones famous Greeks andtwo large denominations examplesGreek historymythology. All designs feature12 stars ofEU andyearimprint. Unique tonational sideGreek coinsthatvalue ofcoinexpressed inGreek alphabet. Also,euro centcalledlepton (λεπτο)Greek, unlike other languages which borrowedword cent.
