Gherman Titov

Gherman Stepanovich Titov (Герман Степанович Титов) September 11, 1935 (Verhnee Zhilino) - September 20 2000 (Moscow) wasSoviet cosmonaut andsecond personorbitEarth.

After graduating as an air force pilot, he was selectedcosmonaut training1960,from there was chosenflyVostok 2 mission launchedAugustfollowing year. A month short26 years old at launch, he remainsyoungest personflyspace.

Following his spaceflight, Titov went onassume various senior positions inSoviet space programme until his retirement1992. In 1995 he was elected toDuma asmember ofcommunist party.

He died ofheart attackhis sauna at age 65.
