County Tipperary

County Tipperary (Tiobraid Árainn in Irish) is a county in the Republic of Ireland, in the province of Munster. The population of the county in 2002 was 140,131.

Tipperary is known for its horsebreeding (Coolmore Stud is the largest thoroughbred breeding operation in the world), its fertile agricultural land, and its hurling teams.

The county is split into two administrative regions, Tipperary North Riding and Tipperary South Riding, whose principal towns are Nenagh and Clonmel, respectively.
