Buddy Clark

Buddy Clark (26 July 1911 - 1 October 1949) was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He was fatally injured in an air crash in Los Angeles on October 2, 1949. Buddy and some friends rented a plane to attend a football game between Stanford and Michigan. The plane lost power over Los Angeles and made an emergency crash landing on Beverly Boulevard. No one else on the plane was fatally injured.

Clark, whose real name was Sammy Goldberg, was a popular singer. Buddy made his big band singing debut in 1934 with Benny Goodman on the "Last Dance" radio program. His voice was well-known on radio in the USA in the 1930s but his greatest fame came after World War II. Buddy's biggest hit came in November of 1946. It was called "Linda".
