Argenteuil

Argenteuil is a French town and suburb of Paris situated on the river Seine in the département of Val-d'Oise. Its population in 2000 was 95,340.

Argenteuil was founded as a convent in the 7th century (→ Pierre Abelard, Convent of Argenteuil). The monastery that arose from the convent was destroyed during the French revolution.
